Concern for those in need was a non-negotiable part of gospel preaching and church planting in the New Testament (Galatians 2:1-10). We must make sure that is still true today, especially at this key time for our nation.

Please Note: a few minutes were missed from the beginning of this recording. We are very sorry about this.

Questions:

  • Are you experiencing the empowering of the Holy Spirit on a day-to-day basis?
  • How can we respond with faith to the radically-changed economic and social situation of our nation?
  • The first apostles considered remembering the poor to be an essential requirement of faithful gospel preaching and church planting (Galatians 2:1-10). Why do you think this was? How are you doing this?
  • The prophetic words Martin has heard around the country can be summarised as “prepare the church” for a continued and growing massive need for social care, locally and nationally. Food banks will be just the first of many instances. How can you prepare for this personally? How do you think the church should prepare?
  • Which of the six steps that Martin outlined for changing our hearts are you most aware of your need to grow in: simplicity, generosity, proximity, community, strategy, expectancy?
  • How is God calling you?
