Faith is being persuaded about something and the Roman Centurion was persuaded that Jesus could heal his servant. This is the kind of faith God is looking for in us and wants to give us.
Questions:
Compare the centurion's faith with that of the Jewish elders. In what ways are they similar and in what ways are they the same?
Who would the original hearers of the story have expected to have greater faith?
Why do you think Luke, a gentile, included this story? What points was he trying to make?
Consider that faith means to be persuaded of something. Why do you think it's a passive word?
In what ways can God convince us that He is real, and that He is powerful? How has he done this in your life?
What activities can we take part in to allow God to persuade us?
